About The School

Hamworthy Park Junior was built in the early 1970′s on a beautiful, spacious site with views of Poole Harbour, the Purbecks and Brownsea Island.

We have a large playing field which boasts an athletics track, a long jump pit and football pitches. Our playgrounds are zoned to allow for ball games, activity and quiet areas for the children.

The school consists of four year groups:
7 – 8 years (Year 3)
8 -  9 years (Year 4)
9 – 10 years (Year 5)
10 – 11 years (Year 6)

Whenever possible, children are taught in classes of no more than 30. For some subjects and integrated aspects of the curriculum, the teaching group will often be smaller. Throughout the year, each child builds a special relationship with other class members, other children within the year group, their teacher and teaching assistant(s). This contributes to our strong ethos for safeguarding and subsequently provides a safe and stable environment in which to learn.

We are always happy to meet with parents/carers to discuss any concerns, or offer advice and information.  Each term, there is an opportunity to discuss your child’s work and progress during the parent/carer and teacher consultation evenings.  Parents/carers are always welcome to make additional appointments to see their child’s class teacher or a member of the inclusion team.
